Albanian as their first
language, have
resided in Albania
most of their lives,
and /or have been educated
in the Albanian system
(and thus have a local
alternative
to a MIST education) will
be expected
to demonstrate
compatibility
with the international
character of the school and a high
level of academic
proficiency.

Applicants
to the Key Stage 1-2 will
be screened, tested
as deemed necessary, and interviewed.
Sample test
questions will be introduced to parents
by the Vice Principal.
Key Stage 3
Applicants
and their parents / guardians
may be required to come to school
for an interview with
the Principal subject
to the outcome
of a review
of previous
school
records. The Head of the
English
Language Department
is
consulted regarding applicants transferring
from the Albanian system. These
applicants may
be assessed
in Albanian or English in
order to determine suitability for admission
into MIST.
English
as a Second
Language {ESL)
testing is done to determine
level of proficiency in
English.
This assists
in placing
the student into the correct
class and whether or not the student
needs English Language Support. ESL testing
in the Key Stage 3
takes place
before the student's first day
of school.
Key Stage 4
All non-native

speaking applicants whose school
records indicate limited
proficiency in English
must take an ESL test. Only

language is
at an intermediate level
or above are accepted to the
Key Stage 4.

from the Albanian system need to have
qualified for placement
in or promotion within a
public Gymnasium. Where appropriate, the
academic support teacher will
indicate
whether or not the program is
suitable
for the applicant.

that the School
does not have facilities or personnel
required to serve the
educational needs of students who have significant mental, emotional,

admission is the responsibility
of the Head of School in
collaboration
with the principal
responsible for
that specific grade level.

documented needs within
the scope of the
school’s ability to ensure
success
in
learning for these
students.

disabilities must provide the school
with copies of recent psychological
testing and evaluation reports.

may be requested by
MIST as deemed necessary.

have another extra facilities
or personnel required to serve
the special talents, MIST will
ensure that all students are
encouraged
to develop to the full, their academic, physical,
social,

in an education of an academic
nature appropriate to their
